If you are seeing an error message indicating that your Word version is no longer supported, you have three options:

1. Update Your Word Version

To ensure compatibility with the latest features and tools, it is recommended to update your Microsoft Word to the latest version. Updating your software can enhance performance, security, and compatibility with other applications. Follow these steps to update your Word version:

  • Open Microsoft Word.
  • Go to “File” > “Account” (or “Help” in some versions).
  • Click on “Update Options” and then select “Update Now.”
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.

2. Download the LanguageTool App for Desktop

The LanguageTool desktop app can check your texts in older versions of Microsoft Word. To install it:

  • Visit https://languagetool.com/desktop-app
  • Download the app from the website
  • Open the installer from your downloads folder and follow the installation instructions
  • Once set up, you should see underlines appear in your Word documents indicating grammar and spelling suggestions

3. Use the Online Editor

The LanguageTool online editor can check your Microsoft Word documents. To use it:

  • Visit https://languagetool.com
  • Click “Check Word Document” and upload your file.
  • After uploading, you will be redirected to the editor, where you can review and apply suggestions.

Please note: The online editor does not display document formatting. However, your formatting will be preserved and restored when you download the corrected document.
